Mrs Alison Carnwath has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the
Company as an independent non-executive director with effect from 24th January
2001.  She will be a member of the Audit Committee, Remuneration Committee and
Nomination Committee.

Mrs Carnwath has been a director of Sears Group PLC and National Power PLC in
the past 5 years and is currently a director of Vitec Group PLC and
Skillsgroup PLC.  She has also been a director of Nationwide Building Society
since 1993.

There are no details to be disclosed under paragraph 6.F.2(b) to (g) of the
Listing Rules of the UK Listing Authority.
