Notification is given pursuant to Chapter 16.13 of the Listing Rules, that on
19th July 1999 the security interest of the E D & F Man Group 1990 Employee
Trust ('the Employee Trust') was reduced by 187,573 ordinary shares (for nil
consideration).  The Employee Trust now has a security interest over 4,361,882
ordinary shares.

Executive Directors of the company are deemed to be interested in the
5,025,921 shares held by the Employee Trust and the 4,361,882 shares over
which the Employee Trust holds a security interest.
