Man Group PLC 30 April 2001 Man Group plc ('Man Group') Acquisition of Australian Futures Brokers Business Man Group, the international Financial Services group, has today acquired the Australian retail futures broker, Ord Minnett Jardine Fleming Futures Ltd ('Ords Futures') from JP Morgan. Ords Futures is one of Australia's premier futures and margin foreign exchange brokers and has offices in Sydney and Brisbane providing clients with a full range of broking services and trading facilities. Over 4,500 retail client accounts are being acquired by Man together with net assets of approximately A$6m (£2.1m). The acquisition will form part of Man's brokerage business, Man Financial, which is one of the world's leading providers of brokerage services in futures and options to both institutional and private clients, offering advice, execution and clearing services. Man Financial is also an intermediary in the world's metals, foreign exchange and equities markets. Commenting on the acquisition, Stanley Fink, Chief Executive of Man Group, said: 'This acquisition continues the Group's strategy of further development in its global coverage in futures broking, and provides Man Financial with a strong presence in the Australian market. This acquisition also complements the acquisition by the Group's asset management business, Man Investment Products, in November last year of Ord Minnett Strategic Investments, a distributor of alternative investment funds based in Sydney.'
