Appointment of CEO for Singapore Operations

AEC, the educational programmes and examinations provider, is delighted to announce that it has appointed Dr Chong Chee Leong as Chief Executive Officer of its Singapore operations*. Dr Chong joins the Group from 1 May 2012.  Reporting to David Ho, Chief Executive of the Group, he will be responsible for driving expansion in Singapore, where AEC is seeing strong demand for its educational programmes.

Dr Chong brings over 25 years' experience in the academic sector.  He joins AEC from PSB Academy, one of the largest independent education and training institutions in Singapore, where he was Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Academic Dean.  Previously, Dr Chong was the founding dean of SIM University's School of Science and Technology in Singapore.  He has also held the posts of Associate Professor at the National University of Singapore ("NUS") and Director of the NUS-SPRING Centre for Best Practices.

Internationally, Dr Chong helped establish a Best Practice and Benchmarking Centre for the Thailand Productivity Institute (the government-backed national productivity organization) and was a Technical Expert for the Asia Productivity Organisation in Japan (the regional intergovernmental not-for-profit organisation designed to promote the socioeconomic development of Asia and the Pacific through enhanced productivity).

As well as strengthening the management of the Group's Singapore operations, Dr Chong's profile and experience in the education sector will assist AEC in its ambitions to expand operations in Singapore.  In particular, the Group believes that there are opportunities to build additional university partnerships.

*This is not a board appointment and accordingly, there are no regulatory declarations to be made.

Liam Swords, Chairman of AEC, said,

"We are pleased that Dr Chong is joining AEC.  Our college in Singapore have seen strong demand over the last couple of years and we believe that there is an opportunity to grow the business further, both by driving uptake of existing programmes and also by expanding our university partnerships and launching new courses.

Dr Chong's experience across the education sector will no doubt prove invaluable as we seek to deliver these goals."
