MAJEDIE INVESTMENTS PLC

The Company has been advised that on 30 March 2001 Capco Trust Corporation,
the Trustee of the Majedie Investments PLC Employee Incentive Trust, purchased
169,151 ordinary 10p shares in the Company (representing 0.32% of the
Company's issued ordinary share capital) at a price of £3.12 per share.

As a result of this transaction, the Majedie Investments PLC Employee
Incentive Trust now holds 169,151 ordinary 10p shares (representing 0.32% of
the Company's issued ordinary share capital). This follows the approval by the
shareholders at the Annual General Meeting on 16 January 2001 of the
introduction of the Majedie Discretionary Share Option Scheme.
