On 4 January 2000 the Company received information that awards have been made by
the Trustee of the Long Term Incentive Plan ('LTIP') in favour of Directors of
Majedie Investments PLC as follows:

Robert E Clarke     Up to a maximum of 35,000 ordinary shares of 10p
                    each at an exercise price of 0.001p

Gillian M Leates    Up to a maximum of 25,000 ordinary shares of 10p
                    each at an exercise price of 0.001p

Helen Bagan         Up to a maximum of 20,000 ordinary shares of 10p
                    each at an exercise price of 0.001p

The awards are subject to the satisfaction of performance criteria over a three
year period commencing on 1 October 1999 and, in accordance with the rules of
LTIP, subject to the Trustee exercising its discretion to allow the award to
vest.
