The Company was today advised that Mrs Reid, the wife of a Director of the
Company, purchased on 6 June 2001, 298 ordinary shares of 10p each
(representing 0.0% of the issued class of capital) at a price of 335p each.
The shares were purchased pursuant to a regular standing order, through the
Majedie share plan.

Mr Reid is now deemed to have a disclosable interest in 4,992 shares,
representing 0.01% of the issued share capital.
