The Company was today advised that Mr R Clarke, a Director of the Company,
acquired on 28 March 2001, 14 ordinary shares of 10p each (representing 0.0%
of the issued class of capital) at a price of 315p each. The shares were
acquired pursuant to the re-investment of tax credits, through the Majedie PEP
Scheme.

Mr Clarke is now deemed to have a disclosable interest in 12,914 shares,
representing 0.02% of the issued share capital.

The Company was also advised that Mrs M Ritchie, the wife of a Director of the
Company, acquired on 28 March 2001, 12 ordinary shares of 10p each
(representing 0.0% of the issued class of capital) at a price of 315p each.
The shares were acquired pursuant to the re-investment of tax credits, through
the Majedie PEP scheme.

Mr Ritchie is now deemed to have a disclosable interest in 15,027 shares,
representing 0.03% of the issued share capital.


The Company was further advised that Mrs G Leates, a Director of the Company,
acquired on 23 March 2001, 3 ordinary shares of 10p each (representing 0.0% of
the issued class of capital) at a price of 318p each. The shares were acquired
pursuant to the re-investment of tax credits, through the Majedie ISA Scheme.

Mrs Leates is now deemed to have a disclosable interest in 2,026 shares,
representing 0.00% of the issued share capital.
