MAJEDIE INVESTMENTS PLC

The Company was today advised that Mrs Reid, the wife of a Director of the
Company,  purchased on 9 May 2001, 293 ordinary shares of 10p each
(representing 0.0% of the issued class of capital) at a price of 339p each.
The shares were purchased pursuant to a regular standing order, through the
Majedie share plan.

Mrs Reid has also acquired a further 16 shares in respect of previously
reinvested dividends and timing delays in the administration of the share
plan.

Mr Reid is now deemed to have a disclosable interest in 4,694 shares,
representing 0.01% of the issued share capital.
