MAJEDIE INVESTMENTS PLC

The Company has today been advised that on 28 March 2001 Sir John K Barlow
sold a total of 30,000 ordinary 10p shares in Majedie Investments PLC
(representing 0.057% of the Company's issued ordinary share capital) at a
price of £3.11 per share.

As a result of this transaction, Sir John K Barlow's beneficial interest has
reduced from 2,958,186 to 2,928,186 ordinary 10p shares (representing 5.55% of
the Company's issued ordinary share capital). This beneficial interest
includes holdings within certain Trusts where there are other beneficiaries.

Non-beneficial interests of Sir John K Barlow remain at 1,231,205 which
represents 2.34% of the Company's issued ordinary share capital.
