M&C Saatchi plc was informed that on the 18 May 2005 Goldman Sachs Group, Inc
was interested by attribution only 5,587,555 ordinary shares of 1p each in the
Company, representing 10.3% per cent of the issued share capital of the Company.
Of these 5,587,555 shares

 •  Its wholly-owned indirect subsidiary Goldman Sachs International, held a
    beneficial interest in 4,720,949 ordinary shares of 1p each in the Company,
    representing 8.7% per cent of the issued share capital of the Company.

 •  Subsidiaries of Goldman Sachs Group, Inc, acting as discretionary
    managers held 866,606 ordinary shares of 1p each in the Company,
    representing 1.6% per cent of the issued share capital of the Company
