          Market Purchase of Company's Own Shares
                             
                             
Notification  is  given  that  pursuant  to  the  authority
granted at an Annual General Meeting on 15 December 1999 to
make market purchases of the Company's own shares of 25p, a
market purchase of  525,000 ordinary shares of 25p each  in
the  capital of the Company was made today at  a  price  of
371p per share.

Following   the   purchase  and  cancellation,   20,590,205
ordinary shares of 25p will be in issue.
