Director Retirement and Appointment of a new Non-Executive Director 

Lowland Investment Company plc announces that Mr Michael Moule will retire from the Board of Directors of the Company at its next AGM which will be held in January 2010. 

The Chairman commented: 'Michael has made an immense contribution to the Company as a director over the past 12 years.  We will miss his incisive and original thoughts on investment matters and his extensive knowledge and experience of the investment trust industry'. 

The Company also announces the appointment of Dr Kevin Carter as a non-executive director to the Board with effect from 1 October 2009.  

Dr Carter is a director of Murray International Trust Plc, Legal and General Investment Management (Holdings) Ltd and is Chairman of the Investment Committee of JP Morgan Pension Trustees Ltd.

Dr Carter is the former Managing Director and Head of the EMEA Pension Advisory Group for JP Morgan Securities Limited in the UK and the Head of European Investment Practice for Watson Wyatt Limited. He is also the former Chief Executive Officer of Old Mutual Asset Managers.

In accordance with paragraphs 9.6.13 (1) to (6) of the Listing Rules, it is confirmed that there are no additional details to be disclosed in relation to Dr Carter.
