LSE/JSE Business Deal

London Stock Exchange Plc 30 July 2001 LONDON STOCK EXCHANGE PLC AND JSE SECURITIES EXCHANGE SOUTH AFRICA SIGN AGREEMENTS On 2 April 2001, London Stock Exchange plc ('the Exchange') announced its intention to enter into a commercial arrangement with the JSE Securities Exchange South Africa ('the JSE'). The Exchange is pleased to announce that it has signed two agreements, a Business Agreement and a Technology Agreement. Business Agreement This agreement provides for each exchange to assist in the marketing of the other exchange's data, together with arrangements to facilitate cross-membership and the dual trading of securities on both exchanges. Implementation of cross-membership and the dual trading of securities on both exchanges is dependant upon consultation with market participants and obtaining the necessary regulatory consents in both markets. Technology Agreement This agreement is for the provision by the Exchange to the JSE, of technology services. These services are provided through the trading system (Sequence, including SETS) and the information dissemination system (LMIL). The planned date for implementation of the technology services is May 2002.
