result of a purchase of 1,550,372 ordinary shares of 5 pence each in the
Company, Merrill Lynch & Co., Inc has an interest under the provisions of
sections 198-202 of the Companies Act 1985 in 1,550,372 ordinary shares
representing approximately 6.98 per cent. of the Company's issued ordinary
shares.
