Liontrust Asset Management PLC ('the Company') has been informed that
Liontrust Trustees Limited, on behalf of the Company's Employee Share
Ownership Plan ('the ESOP'), acquired 1,742 ordinary shares in the Company on
31 October 2001 at a price of 290.0p per share ('the purchase').

Andrew Yates, a director of the Company, is a participant of the ESOP and will
benefit from the purchase. The purchase increases his interest in the share
capital of the Company by 134 ordinary shares, taking his total holding to
479,915 ordinary shares, representing approximately 1.46 per cent. of the
ordinary issued share capital of the Company.
