Re: Legal & General Group Plc - Tax Clarification

Legal & General Group Plc ('Legal & General') has noted that an announcement has
been made today by the Economic Secretary with the purpose of clarifying draft
tax legislation issued on 29 September.  The legislation as now proposed will
have no tax consequences for the company.  Legal & General welcomes today's
announcement which removes a significant uncertainty from the management of our
business.
