In accordance with the provisions of Section 198 of the Companies Act 1985,
Legal & General Group Plc ('the Group') has been advised today by Morley Fund
Management Limited (a subsidiary of Aviva plc) that, as at 9 February 2004,
Aviva plc had a notifiable interest in 196,146,201 ordinary shares of 2.5p of
the Group, which represented 3.02% of the issued share capital.
