The Company today announces that it has been informed by Sir David Walker's
portfolio managers that it had purchased the following ordinary shares of 2.5p
each in Legal & General Group Plc on behalf of Sir David Walker (Non-Executive
Director) as a reinvestment of dividend.

2,122 ordinary shares had been purchased at a price of 75.7873p per share on 16
May 2003, 862 ordinary shares had been purchased at a price of 93.9p per share
on 15 October 2003.

The Company was initially notified of these transactions on 19 December 2003.

Following this transaction, Sir David Walker's beneficial holding of ordinary
shares now stands at 84,837.
