Preferred Bidder

Land Securities PLC 22 March 2001 22 March 2001 Land Securities Trillium selected as preferred bidder for BBC property partnership The BBC has today announced that Land Securities Trillium ('Trillium') has been selected as the preferred bidder for the BBC property partnership. Following completion of the deal, Trillium is expected to fulfil the BBC's property requirements over the next 30 years through a comprehensive outsourced property agreement. Trillium and the BBC will continue detailed negotiations with the objective of the contract going live in early Autumn 2001. Land Securities and Trillium submitted the original bid under the name '2020 Insight' prior to Land Securities' acquisition of Trillium in November 2000. The contract involves some £500 million of investment to provide modern, flexible accommodation, a wide range of facilities management services and active estate management. The project initially centres on the provision of a combination of services for the Scottish and London estate, plus a major redevelopment at White City. Future developments are expected to include Broadcasting House and the new headquarters for BBC Scotland at Pacific Quay, Glasgow. The selection of Trillium as preferred bidder for the first non-governmental total property outsourcing contract* is a milestone for both the property industry and Trillium. The decision comes four months after Land Securities PLC acquired Trillium in November 2000 as part of its strategy to seek additional earnings streams through the provision of total property services. Ian Henderson, Chief Executive of Land Securities PLC ('Land Securities'), commented, 'We are delighted to have been selected as the BBC's preferred bidder and we see this project as a major step forward in achieving Land Securities' future business strategy.' Manish Chande, Trillium's Chief Executive Officer, commented, 'We are thrilled at the prospect of working with the BBC in this ground-breaking partnership. The BBC works at the cutting edge of creativity and technology, and we look forward to providing its staff with a working environment designed and managed to suit its business.' *The property contract Abbey National concluded in October 2000 excluded the delivery of services.
