APPOINTMENT OF DIRECTOR

Land Securities PLC announce that Win Bischoff has been
appointed to the Board of Directors in a non-executive
capacity with effect from 1st November, 1999.

Mr Bischoff, aged 58, has been Chairman of Schroders plc
since 1995 and is also Deputy Chairman of Cable and Wireless
plc where he has been a non-executive director since 1991.

Commenting on the appointment, Land Securities' Chairman,
Peter Birch, said 'Win Bischoff's experience and skills have 
earned him a high reputation in business circles and we are 
delighted that he is joining the Board.'
