Ian Cheshire Appointed Chief Exec of e-Kingfisher

                     KINGFISHER PLC APPOINTS IAN CHESHIRE
                        CHIEF EXECUTIVE OF e-KINGFISHER



Kingfisher  plc  today  announces that Ian Cheshire has been  appointed  Chief
Executive of e-Kingfisher, the division recently formed to combine all of  the
group's  e-business activities.  His appointment as an Executive  Director  of
Kingfisher plc will be confirmed in early June.

Since  1998,  Ian  Cheshire  has  been Kingfisher's  Director  of  Strategy  &
Development.  Before joining Kingfisher, he was Group Commercial  Director  of
Sears  plc, where he served on the main board.  His prior experience  included
work as a partner with retail development consultancy and venture capital firm
Piper  Trust  and  management  positions with  Guinness  plc  and  The  Boston
Consulting Group.

Kingfisher Chief Executive Sir Geoffrey Mulcahy commented:  ' This appointment
reflects the growth envisaged for Kingfisher's businesses in e-commerce.   Our
existing  strong  brand  portfolio gives us unique  opportunities  to  enhance
further our offer to existing and new customers. '

Kingfisher announced the formation of e-Kingfisher in March 2000 as the  first
step  in  its  plan  for the rapid growth of the group's  existing  e-commerce
activities and the development of new e-businesses.
