Kier Group plc, the construction, housebuilding and support services group, is
pleased to announce the appointment of SIMON W LEATHES, MA FCA as an
independent non-executive director of the company.  Mr Leathes, aged 53, was
recently appointed Vice Chairman for support services at Barclays Capital, the
investment banking division of Barclays PLC.  Until the end of last year, he
was General Manager Finance and head of Shared Services with Lend Lease
Corporation, the leading Australian real estate services and construction
management company.  He previously held senior appointments at Hambros PLC,
Caspian Securities and SG Warburg Group plc.
