                   Preferred bidder for £125m Harrow contract


Kier Group plc has been named preferred bidder by Harrow Council for a £125m
five-year contract to repair and maintain 6,000 council houses, schools and
other council buildings.


The contract, which will save the council £1.5m per year in building and
maintenance costs, will wherever possible employ local people to carry out the
work, due to start in July.


Kier Group chief executive John Dodds commented: "The Kier team is looking
forward to fully embracing the true spirit of partnering with Harrow Council and
demonstrating how, as a partner of choice, we can add value for the community."


Kier is currently working on over 200,000 homes across the country and in the
southern region has contracts and partnerships in Brighton, Ealing, East London,
Greenwich, Harlow and Islington.
