Update on tax audit of JSC Kazakhaltyn MMC

Further to the announcement made on 24 August 2010, the tax authorities of the Republic of Kazakhstan have initiated a tax audit of JSC Kazakhaltyn MMC for the previously audited period of 2007-2008. The new tax audit relates to periods prior to the acquisition by Jenington International Inc., an indirect wholly-owned subsidiary of OJSC Polyus Gold, of its 50.1% share in the Company.
