Grant of Prospecting Permit

Jubilee Platinum PLC 06 April 2004 6 April 2004 Jubilee Platinum Granted First Prospecting Permit in Western Bushveld, South Africa Jubilee Platinum plc ('Jubilee' or 'the Company'), the AIM quoted mining group, is pleased to announce it has received a prospecting permit for its optioned Vlaklaagte/Zwartdoorns platinum group metal ('PGM') property in the Western Limb of the Bushveld Complex in South Africa. These permits were granted to the Company by the Department of Minerals and Energy of South Africa under the Minerals Act 1991: Section 6 (1), giving it the right to carry out prospecting activities, including rock and soil sampling digging of trenches and pits, drilling and sinking of exploration shafts. The Company intends to carry out a combination of geochemical soil sampling and geophysics, involving ground and or airborne magnetic surveys, as appropriate, to establish targets for eventual drilling. Vlaklaagte 215JP/Zwartdoorns 213JP are located some 45 kilometres north west of Rustenburg in the Western Limb of the Bushveld Complex. These properties are considered highly prospective by the Company because the intrusion of the Pilanesberg Complex 10 kilometres to the north east displaced the Rustenburg Layered Suite (RLS), the stratigraphic sequence of layered rocks within which the PGM bearing Merensky and UG2 reefs are present, in such a way that remnants (large pyroxenite boulders) of the Critical Zone within the RLS outcrop occasionally in the regional area, including the farms Vlaklaagte/Zwartdoorns. A geological reconnaissance of the farm shows the soils of the western portion of the farm and the north west corner in particular are very dark brown/black and clay rich, their lithological source being very different from the remainder of the farm; possibly deriving from pyroxene rich rock. Complementary regional stream and geochemical survey data indicates an area, roughly corresponding to the occurrence of black soils, to be anomalous in cobalt, nickel, chromium and copper. This area is prospective for PGMs and may extend further east across Zwartdoorns, which is covered possibly by debris eroded from the north east hills. Colin Bird, CEO of Jubilee, said 'The receipt of our third prospecting permit in the Bushveld marks another milestone and adds to the gathering momentum of the Company's projects. We expect the imminent release of more permits pertaining to our other PGM assets in the Bushveld Complex and look forward to moving on to the next phase of development.'
