THE FLEMING SMALLER COMPANIES INVESTMENT TRUST PLC
STOCK EXCHANGE ANNOUNCEMENT
PRELIMINARY RESULTS FOR THE YEAR TO 31 JULY 2001
The Fleming Smaller Companies Investment Trust plc today announces its
preliminary results for the year ended 31 July 2001.
Over the period the Company's net asset value per share fell by 22.0% to
285.6 pence, which compares with a fall of 18.8% in the FTSE SmallCap Index
(Ex IT) over the same period. The share price fell by 19.5% to 265.0 pence
per share as the discount on the Company's shares narrowed from 10.1% to 7.2%.
The Board recommends that a final dividend of 2.30 pence per share (2000:
2.30p), be paid on 26th November 2001 to shareholders on the register at the
close of business on 26th October 2001.
