                            APPOINTMENT OF DIRECTORS







The Board of JPMorgan Fleming Smaller Companies Investment Trust plc is pleased
to announce the appointments of Ivo Coulson and Michael Quicke as non-executive
Directors of the Company with effect from 18th October 2005.



Ivo Coulson is Director of UK Equities at Tiburon Partners, a fund management
business.  Between 1985 and 1994 he was a Fund Manager at BZW before moving into
institutional sales and heading the Investment Fund Sales Desk at UBS Warburg.



Michael Quicke was Chief Executive of Leopold Joseph Holdings PLC on its sale in
April 2004, having been employed by them in various roles since 1981.  He is a
member of the National Trust Board of Trustees and Chairman of its Investment
Panel, responsible for approximately £700m of assets.
