JPMORGAN SMALLER COMPANIES INVESTMENT TRUST PLC

APPOINTMENT OF DIRECTOR

As part of its succession planning and in anticipation of the retirement of Richard Fitzalan Howard, the Board of JPMorgan Smaller Companies Investment Trust plc (the 'Company') is pleased to announce the appointment of Alice Ryder as an independent non-executive Director of the Company with effect from 1st February 2017.

Alice is a Partner of Stanhope Capital and Head of Stanhope Consulting.  She has over 25 years of investment experience including 12 years advising substantial charity and not for profit clients. Alice commenced her career as an investment manager, initially at Henderson Administration and then at Framlington Investment Management. During this period she managed portfolios for leading institutional clients, including pension funds and a large ethically constrained charity.

Alice is a non-executive director of BlackRock North American Income Trust PLC and a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.  

Commenting on the appointment Michael Quicke stated:

'Alice has more than 25 years of investment experience, a good part of which included the management of smaller UK companies, and we look forward to the contribution that she will make to the Board.'

Mrs Ryder does not currently hold any shares in the Company.

There is no further information to be disclosed under UKLA's Listing Rule 9.6.13 R (2) to (6) for Mrs Ryder.
