The following replaces the 'Purchase of Own Securities' announcement released on
17th April 2003 at 15:03 hrs under RNS No. 1820K



The name of the trust was given as The Fleming Japanese Investment Trust plc. It
should have been JPMorgan Fleming Japanese Smaller Investment Trust plc. The
repurchased shares represent 1.04% of the shares in issue, not 0.22%. The
authority to repurchase shares was granted on 26th July 2002, not 19th December
2002 and the authority granted was for 6,608,255 shares not 28,153,007. To date
4,195,000 shares have been bought back instead of 1,530,000 as previously stated
and the remaining shares in issue are 39,889,423 not 186,281,919.

                 REPURCHASE OF ORDINARY SHARES FOR CANCELLATION



JPMorgan Fleming Japanese Smaller Companies Investment Trust plc announces that
on 15th April 2003 in the market they purchased for cancellation 420,000
ordinary shares at 121.0p per share representing 1.04% of the ordinary shares in
issue.



The current repurchase authority for 6,608,255 shares was approved by
shareholders on 26th July 2002.  To date 4,195,000 shares have been repurchased
under this authority.



The remaining shares in issue following this repurchase total 39,889,423.
