                 REPURCHASE OF ORDINARY SHARES FOR CANCELLATION









JPMorgan Fleming Indian Investment Trust plc announces that, on 24th October
2002, in the market they purchased for cancellation 425,000 ordinary shares at
50.5p per share representing 0.56% of the ordinary shares in issue.



The number of shares repurchased under the current authority now totals
2,040,000.



The remaining shares in issue following this repurchase total 76,029,792.
