THE FOLLOWING ANNOUNCEMENT IS AN AMENDMENT TO RNS NUMBER 2600U RELEASED TODAY
(9TH APRIL 2002) AT 15.04

THE CORRECT NUMBER OF SHARES REPURCHASED TO DATE SHOULD READ 4,401,303 NOT
4,326,303.  THE CORRECT NUMBER OF REMAINING SHARES IN ISSUE SHOULD READ
58,141,517 NOT 58,216,517.

The Fleming European Fledgeling Investment Trust plc announces that today in the
market they purchased for cancellation 200,000 ordinary shares at 222p per share
representing 0.34% of the ordinary shares in issue.

The number of shares repurchased to date now totals 4,401,303.

The remaining shares in issue following this repurchase total 58,141,517.
