                 JPMORGAN EMERGING MARKETS INVESTMENT TRUST PLC

                                ISSUE OF EQUITY


The Board of JPMorgan Emerging Markets Investment Trust plc (the 'Company')
announces that 20,109,524 new ordinary shares (the 'New Shares') are to be
issued in connection with the reconstruction of F&C Emerging Markets Investment
Trust plc. The issue price of the New Shares will be 378.2349 pence and the
issue is therefore valued at approximately £76 million. Following the issue, the
total assets of the Company will be approximately £412 million and the Company
will have 110,303,742 ordinary shares in issue.


Applications have been made for admission of the New Shares to the Official List
of the UK Listing Authority and to trading on the London Stock Exchange.
Dealings in the New Shares are expected to commence at 8.00 a.m. on 13 April
2006.


The New Shares will rank pari passu with the existing ordinary shares.
