The number of shares in issue less the total number of treasury shares is
73,297,001 and not 73,316,842 as previously stated.  All other details remain
unchanged.

JPMorgan Chinese Investment Trust plc has today purchased into treasury 600,000
ordinary shares at 96.50 pence per share.


Following the transaction the remaining shares in issue less the total number of
treasury shares is 73,297,001.
