Board Changes


The Board of JPMorgan Fleming Chinese Investment Trust plc is pleased to
announce the appointment of William Knight as a non-executive Director with
immediate effect.

Mr. Knight has considerable knowledge of China and its surrounding economies and
runs his own consultancy company, William Knight Associates, which concentrates
on China and South Asia.  Mr. Knight is Chairman of Navigator Capital, a
corporate finance company that specialises in Russia and the surrounding
economies and he is also an advisor to Campbell Lutyens & Co Limited, the London
based private equity specialists.

There are no further details to be disclosed in accordance with paragraph 16.4
of the FSA Listing Rules.

The Board also announce the retirement of Sir David Kinloch Bt, as a
non-executive Director of the Company with immediate effect.  Sir David's
intention to retire from the Board when a suitable replacement was identified
was noted in the Annual Report and Accounts for the Company for the year ended
30th September 2003.

Sir David has been a Director of the Company since April 1994 and served as
Chairman from that date until 16th December 2003.  The Board wishes to thank Sir
David for his valuable contribution to the Board.
