                  JPMORGAN FLEMING ASIAN INVESTMENT TRUST PLC

                           PURCHASE OF OWN SECURITIES

JPMorgan Fleming Asian Investment Trust plc announces that on Thursday 24th
February 2005 it purchased in the market to hold in treasury 1,265,000 ordinary
shares at 100.5 pence per share.

Following this repurchase the Company now holds a total of 2,515,000 shares in
treasury at an average size-weighted discount of 10.52%.

The number of shares in issue less the total number of treasury shares is
159,571,507.
