The shares for cancellation were 9,500 and not 9,000 as previously stated.

                     JPMORGAN AMERICAN INVESTMENT TRUST PLC

                 REPURCHASE OF ORDINARY SHARES FOR CANCELLATION


JPMorgan American Investment Trust plc announces that today in the market it
purchased for cancellation 9,500 ordinary shares at 655.00 pence per share
representing a total of 0.02% of the ordinary shares in issue.


The current repurchase authority for 6,487,589 shares was approved by
shareholders on 3rd May 2006.  To date, 9,000 shares have been repurchased under
this authority.


The remaining shares in issue, following the above repurchases, is 43,270,449.
