The issuer has made the following amendment to the 'Purchase of Own Securities'
announcement released today at 16:40 under RNS No 7618G.

In paragraph 2 the number of shares repurchased to date should read 9,720,564
representing 13.83% and not '9,670,564 representing 14.98%' as previously
stated.

     REPURCHASE OF ORDINARY SHARES FOR CANCELLATION


The  Fleming American Investment Trust plc announces that
today  in the market it purchased for cancellation 50,000
ordinary shares at 696.p per share  representing a  total
of 0.08% of the ordinary shares in issue.

The  number  of  shares repurchased to  date  now  totals
9,720,564  representing 13.83% of the ordinary shares  in
issue  at  the  time  of commencement of  the  repurchase
programme.

The  remaining  number of shares in issue following  this
purchase is 64,502,370.
