                 JPMORGAN FLEMING AMERICAN INVESTMENT TRUST PLC




Mrs Sarah Bates and Mrs Kate Bolsover were appointed as directors of JPMorgan
Fleming American Investment Trust plc ('the Company') on 1 July 2005.  The
Articles of Association of the Company require a director to have a holding of
500 qualification shares in the Company, but due to an oversight both Mrs Bates
and Mrs Bolsover did not hold these shares within 2 months of their appointment
(as required by S291 of the Companies Act 1985) and, therefore, automatically
vacated office with effect from 1 September 2005.


As Mrs Bates and Mrs Bolsover now hold 5,000 shares and 1,088 shares
respectively, they have today both been re-appointed as Directors of the
Company.
