New Director

Following the announcement made on 24th July 2003 regarding the appointment of
Mr James Williams as a non-executive Director on the Board of JPMorgan Fleming
American Investment Trust plc, notification is hereby given that in accordance
with paragraph 16.4 of the FSA Listing Rules, Mr Williams is currently a
Director of Royal London Growth & Income Trust plc, having been appointed on 8th
November 2000.



James Williams was previously a director of Baring Asset Management (Holdings)
Limited (BAMH), and Baring Asset Management Limited (BAML).  Barings plc was the
ultimate parent company of a Group which included BAMH and BAML.  On 26th
February 1995, Barings plc, BAMH and BAMH's subsidiary, BAML, became subject to
an Administration Order under the Insolvency Act 1986.  On 8th March 1995, the
business conducted by the Group of which Barings plc was the ultimate parent
(but excluding Barings plc) was sold to Internationale Nederlanden Groep.  The
administration order of BAMH and BAML was discharged on 8th March 1995 and these
companies resumed their usual activities.



There are no other details requiring disclosure under paragraph 16.4 of the FSA
Listing Rules.
