Preference Dividend

This is to confirm that at a meeting of the board of directors held on 16th
May 2000, the following resolution was passed:-

To pay on the 3rd July 2000 a preference dividend of 3.75p per share on the
7.5p (net) Convertible cumulative redeemable preference shares for the half
year to 24th June 2000 to shareholders on the register at the close of
business on the 9th June 2000. The ex-dividend date is 5th June 2000.
