JOHN LEWIS OF HUNGERFORD PLC

John Lewis of Hungerford plc announces that it has been
advised today that two trusts of which director John
Lewis is a beneficiary have today sold 5,000,000 ordinary
shares of the Company to clients of Ellis and Partners
(the Company's nominated broker) at 1.25 pence per share.

Following the above transaction John Lewis will retain a
beneficial interest in 91,066,678 issued ordinary shares
representing 61.22 per cent of the issued share capital
of the Company.
