John David Sports plc ('JD Sports' or the 'Company')



Statement Re Press Comment



The Board of JD Sports notes the recent press speculation, and today's
announcement by Blacks Leisure Group plc ('Blacks'), regarding the Company and
the sportswear division of Blacks. The Company confirms that preliminary
discussions have been taking place with Blacks to acquire its Sport and Fashion
Division (the 'Acquisition'). Should the Acquisition proceed, the Company
currently intends to fund the Acquisition solely by debt. Discussions are
continuing and an appropriate announcement will be made in due course.
