                               SHARE SUB-DIVISION





Further to the authority received at the annual general meeting on 2 December
2005, James Halstead plc (the 'Company') announces the details of a sub-division
of its ordinary shares.



With effect from 27 February 2006, each of the Company's existing ordinary
shares of 10p each will be sub-divided into two ordinary shares of 5p each.  The
record date for the sub-division is the close of business on 24 February 2006.



Where applicable, CREST accounts will be credited with the new ordinary shares
of 5p each on 27 February 2006 and replacement share certificates will be posted
to shareholders by 3 March 2006.
