Exercise of Options


Application has been made for admission to trading on AIM of 25,000 10p ordinary
shares in James Halstead plc in respect of 10,000 share options exercised at 258
pence per share on 20 December 2002 and 15,000 share options exercised at 202.5
pence per share on 20 December 2002.

It is expected that the new shares will be admitted to trading on 30 December
2002.
