ITIS Holdings PLC 17 December 2004 17 December 2004 ITIS HOLDINGS AGREES 3 YEAR CONTRACT WITH VOLVO CARS FOR RDS-TMC TRAFFIC SERVICE ITIS Holdings plc (ITIS) today announces a new contract with Volvo Car UK Limited to supply its RDS-TMC (Radio Data System - Traffic Message Channel) service as a standard feature on the factory-installed RTi satellite navigation system, which is available across all models in the Volvo Range. Volvo Cars are the third of the Ford Motor Company brands to standardise the RDS-TMC service and this contract is part of a larger framework agreement to provide this service across other Premier Automotive Group brands including Aston Martin, Volvo and Jaguar. ITIS already supplies RDS-TMC to Ford and Land Rover. ITIS traffic information combines Journalistic and Floating Vehicle Data (FVD), which is then broadcast using national bandwidth via Classic FM which is licensed exclusively by the Radio Authority to ITIS until 2012. Hugh Reid, Volvo Car UK's Managing Director said, 'Our decision to standardise RDS-TMC using ITIS was based upon experience gained on a pilot scheme and growing customer demand for the service. We believe that RDS-TMC also makes an important contribution to safety by reducing stress and improving journey planning. In addition it also improves the re-sale value of our vehicles. We undertook six months' rigorous evaluation of the ITIS system and are completely satisfied that it delivers the best traffic information solution to our customers.' Stuart Marks, Chief Executive, ITIS Holdings plc, commented, 'We are pleased that Volvo joins other premium brands in selecting ITIS to provide its RDS-TMC service. Dynamic Route Guidance turns the RTI satellite navigation system into a very compelling feature for today's drivers and as a result we expect to see a continued growth in demand for this product over the coming years.'
