Global automotive manufacturer extends Smart Factory installation with €1m order

Cambridge, UK - Ubisense Group plc ("Ubisense" or the "Company") (AIM: UBI), a market leader in real time location intelligence solutions, is pleased to announce that a global automotive manufacturer has extended its Ubisense Smart Factory System deployment at one of its plants with a €1 million order. This extension in the online assembly area is part of a programme to increase the production capacity of this facility.

The Smart Factory solution has now been installed on assembly lines at six automotive OEMs as well as in several offline finishing areas. The online application is for automatic tool control and in the offline area the system is used to monitor and control the progress of vehicles through testing, quality assurance and rework. In addition, a solution has been implemented for inbound trailer management at the facilities of two of the OEMs.

This extension of the Smart Factory installation by this OEM will bring the total number of vehicles being produced using Ubisense Smart Factory worldwide up to around 6,000 vehicles per day or about 1.5 million per year.

The return on investment of the system is well understood by the OEMs and in the online assembly operation alone can save more than ten minutes per vehicle, which in today's competitive manufacturing environment is a key driver for the adoption of the system.
