                          NOTIFICATION OF Q1 RESULTS


IQE, the leading 'pure play' outsource supplier of custom epiwafers to the
compound semiconductor industry, will be announcing its first quarter results
for the period ending 31 March 2001, on Wednesday 23 May 2001.

A  meeting will be held for analysts on Wednesday 23 May 2001 at 10.45 a.m. at
Watermen's Hall, Number 18, St Mary at Hill, London EC3.
