The Company has been informed that Aviva plc and its subsidiaries
had, on 15 July 2009, increased their notifiable direct interest over
ordinary 1 pence shares in IQE from 13,077,066 (3.00% of the issued
share capital of the Company) to 13,317,764 being 3.05% of the issued
share capital of the Company.

The Company has also been informed that GLG Partners LP had, on 15
July 2009, decreased their notifiable indirect interest over ordinary
1 pence shares in IQE from 25,504,491 (5.85% of the issued share
capital of the Company) to 21,450,276 being 4.92% of the issued share
capital of the Company.

The total number of the Company's ordinary shares in issue is
436,184,128.
