                               Additional Listing


Application has today been made to the UK Listing Authority and the London Stock
Exchange for 12,762 ordinary shares of 1p each in the Company ('Ordinary
Shares') to be admitted to the Official List. The Ordinary Shares are being
issued to Dr G.H.H. Ainsworth in settlement of his Chairman's fees for Q1 2002
and were allotted by the Board of Directors of IQE on 19 April 2002. Admission
is expected to become effective on 30 April 2002.


Following this issue, Dr G.H.H. Ainsworth will be interested in 18,604 Ordinary
Shares, representing approximately 0.01% of the issued share capital.
